Starters and leavers

Man and woman having a chat with a cup of tea in their hands.

To help you understand and guide your members through the starters and leavers process, we’ve a host of resources in our toolkit to assist you.

It’s important that you encourage your members to register for My Pension Online (MPO) so we can communicate to as many as possible. To help you keep on top of this we’ve a monthly report available on the Employer Portal, informing you which employees have signed up to MPO.

If they don’t have MPO and we don’t hold an email address for then then it’s your responsibility to ensure members receive important information relating to their pension.

We provide starter and leaver information directly to members where a My Pension Online (MPO) account or email address is available.

A member needs to be communicated with if they:

  • are an early career teacher (ECT) (Formally known as newly qualified teachers)
  • have changed employer
  • have received a refund of their contributions after being in the Scheme for less than 2 years
  • have re-entered teaching
  • have left eligible service in the Scheme or opted out.

In the circumstances where members haven’t provided us with their details, you can find our communications on starters or leavers on the left side of the webpage, to share with them.
